The republics existed since 2 years. And since 2 years there is war going on in this region.
The
Donbass is a mystery for so many. A blind spot when it comes to the
everyday reality there. We know of shelling and heroic stories, we know
of humanitarian disaster and suffering, we know of the "military
situation". We know of sensations and emotions. What else do you know?
Nothing!
Nobody
knows the real details. They are not to be discussed on the evening
news or in reports during prime time. So they do not exist.
In
the West, there is still the narrative of a region under "pro-Russian
separatist control," dominated by "masked terrorists" who are "supported
by Russia if were not even sent" to destroy the Ukraine on behalf of
the Kremlin.
This film takes a look inside the republics.
What
is reality and what is paranoia? 12 months filming in Donetsk and

Die Republiken bestehen seit 2 Jahren.
Und seit 2 Jahren bestimmt der Krieg diese Region.
Der Donbass ist ein Mysterium für viele. Ein blinder Fleck, wenn es um die alltägliche Realität geht. Man weiß von Artilleriebeschuss und von Heldengeschichten, man weiß von humanitärer Katastrophe und Leid, man weiß von „militärischer Lage“. Man weiß von Sensationen und Emotionen. Was sonst weiß man?
Nichts!
Niemand kennt die wirklichen Details. Sie werden nicht thematisiert in den Abendnachrichten oder in Reportagen zur besten Sendezeit. Also existieren sie nicht.
Im Westen hält sich immer noch der Narrativ einer Region unter „pro-russischer separatistischer Kontrolle“, beherrscht von „maskierten Terroristen“, die von „Russland unterstützt, wenn nicht sogar gesandt wurden“, um im Auftrag des Kreml die Ukraine zerstören.
Dieser Film wirft einen Blick in das Innere der Republiken.
Was ist Realität und was ist Paranoia? 12 Monate Dreharbeiten in Donezk und Umgebung gehen der Frage nach: Was ist die Donezker Volksrepublik? Wie ist sie und wie lebt es sich dort?
Nach der Veröffentlichung des Films werden seine 13 Themen in separaten Reportagen behandelt und diese veröffentlicht.
